Zanskar Trek Padum To LamayruDuration : 16 Nights / 17 Days Destination Covered : Delhi - Leh - Kargil - Pishu - Lingshet - Hanupatta - Lamayuru - Leh - Delhi.  Day 01 : DelhiArrive Delhi. Met upon arrival and transfer to hotel for overnight stay. Day 02 : Delhi / Leh Flight Transfer to domestic airport in time to board flight for Leh (3500 m). Leh is situated on the banks of the river Indus. Arrive and overnight stay at the hotel. Day 03 : Leh - Kargil Coach After an early breakfast drive 250 kms to Kargil (3440 m) which is also the half way point of 5rinagar-Leh highway. It is also the second largest town after Leh in Ladakh.  Arrive and overnight stay at the hotel. Day 04 : Kargil - Padum Coach After an early breakfast drive 240 kms to reach Padum (3650 m). Padum is the capital town of Zanskar. Overnight stay in tents. Day 05 : Padum - Karsha Trek  After breakfast start your first day's trek to Karsha (3610 m) by coverning aprox 7 kms in 3-4 hrs crossing the Doda river. A 15th century Gelumpa Monastery (popularly known as Karsha Gompa) dominates and scene. Arrive and overnight. stay in tents. Day 06 : Karsha - Pishu Trek After breakfast start trekking to Pishu (3665 m) by coverning approx 13kms in 4-5 hrs along the river Zanskar enroute Thonda Gompa, arrive and overnight stay in tents. Day 07 : Pishu - Hanumil Trek After breakfast start trekking to reach Hanumil (3960 m) by coverning approx 14 kms. in 4-5 hrs through Pidmu after continuing to the left or river Zanskar. Arrive and overnight stay in tents. Day 08 : Hanumil - Purfi La - Snertse Trek After breakfast start trekking to reach 5nertse (3745 m/ 15 kms) after crossing a ste~p and difficult climb to the pass Purfi La (3900 m). From the Pass it is a steep descent upon Oma Chu river and from there it is about one km climb upto a Arrive and overnight stay in tents Day 09 : Snertse - Hanuma La - Lingshet Trek After breakfast start trekking 14 kms to reach Linghset (3800 m) after crossing Hanuma La (4700 m). Crossing the Hanuma La is not difficult and not steep. Overnight stay in tents. Day 10 : Lingshet - Sing La - Marling Trek  After breakfast ,start trekking 16 kms to reach Marling (3825 m) after crossing 5ingi La (5230 m). 5ingi La means the Lion's Pass Which is also the highest pass of this trek. First the climb is through the erminal moraine and then through the long glacier. The climb is not steep but the descent throgh the steep glacier is a little difficult. The day is quite long and tiring. Arrive and overnight stay in tents. Day 11 : Marling - Boumitse La - Photoksar Trek After breakfast start trekking 11 krns to reach Photoskar after crossing Boumitse La (4200 m). Photoskar villc;tge is a town of clusters of homes, green fields, and gompa above in a dark brown cutcrop. Arrive and overnight stay in tents. Day 12 : Phtoksar - Sirsir La - Hanupatta Trek After breakfast start trekking 12 kms to reach Hanupatta (3770 m) after crossing Sirsir La (4230 m). The climb to the pass is steep but the descent is gentle. Arrive and overnight stay in tents. Day 13 : Hanupatta - Wanla Trek After breakfast start trekking 13 kms to reach Wanla (3645 m). Lamayuru gompa is one of the most impressive and well maintained monasteries in Ladakh. Arrive and overnight in tents. Day 15 : Lamayuru - Leh Trek After breakfast drive 120 kms to Leh. Arrive and overnight stay in at the hotel. Day 16 : Leh  Full day sightseeing of Leh covering Hemis, Thiksey, Shey Monasteries. Overnight stay in the hotel. Day 17 : Leh - Delhi Flight Transfer to domestic airport in time to board flight for Delhi. Arrive and transfer to international airport in time to board flight for onward destination. |
