The Lost Empire
Duration : 14 Days / 13 Nights Day 01 : Arrival Chennai. Transfer to hotel.
Day 02 : Full day city tour of Chennai. Visit Fort St. George, St. Mary's Church & the High Court. Also visit Mahabalipuram with it's superb stone carvings & evocative Shore Temple.
Day 03 : Early morning departure for Bangalore by Shatabdi Express. Afternoon : Visit the Maharaja's Palace (echoes of Windsor Castle) & the Lalbagh Gardens (complete with Crystal Palace).
Day 04 : Drive to Hassan visiting Sravanabelagola on the way, a Jain pilgrimage center with a towering 10th century statue of Lord Bahubali. Overnight in Hassan (2 nights).
Day 05 : Explore Belur & Halebid which are full of exquisitely carved temples dating back to the 12th & 13th centuries.
Day 06 : Drive to Hospet. Visit Chitradurga & it's 17th century fortress en route. Stay at Hospet (2 nights) as base for exploring Hampi.
Day 07 : Explore Hampi, the old city of Vijayanagar which is full of ruined temples, palaces, bathhouses, pavilions & Halls.
Day 08 : The morning is free to revisit Hampi.
Afternoon : Drive via the early temple towns of Pattadakal & Aihole (the 'cradle' of Indian temple archtecture) to Badami (2 nights) which is famous for it's cave temples. These towns are attractive & unspoilt, perfect for exploring in peace.
Day 09 : Sightseeing in Badami & neighbourhood.
Day 10 : Drive to Goa.
Day 11-13 : At leisure in Goa.
Day 14 : Depart Goa for Mumbai & transfer to the international airport to catch connecting flight home.
