DAY 01: Arr. CALCUTTAMeet on arrival and transfer to hotel.
PM: sightseeing tour of Dakhineshwar and Belur Math– (Swami Vivekanand memorial and meditation centre) (4 hrs)
Day 02: CALCUTTA
Full day Calcutta: Victoria memorial, the river side, Howrah bridge with flower market, Mother Teressa homes, Birla temple, Nirmal Hridey (old home), Jain temple. Drive pass by Eden gardens, the new secretariat high court, the race course.
Day 03: CALCUTTA/GUWAHATI/BHALUKPONG
Transfer to airport. Meet and greet in Guwahati Airport and drive to Gauhati city. Traditional Assamese lunch at Hotel Paradise. Thereafter drive to Bhalukpong 250 km/6 hrs. Overnight in Kunkis Resort.
Day 04: Bhalukpong/Dirang
Drive to Dirang 142 km/6 hrs. En-route visit the famous Tipi Orchidarium,
Thubchob Gatseling Monastary & GRL Monastary, Dirang Monpa village, Ta Dzong (former Tibetan Jail), water mills and Nyingmapa Monastary. Entry formalities at Police Check Gate bordering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. O/N in Dirang Resort.
Day 05: Dirang/Tawang
Drive to Tawang 145 km/6 hrs. En-route visit Paradise lake at Sela Pass (13700ft.).
O/N in Hotel Samdrupling.
Day 06:Tawang
Sight seeing of Tawang Monastary (400 yrs old with 500 resident monks and
center of Mahayana Buddhism), Tawang Memorial, Birth Place of HH V1 Dalai Lama Urgeling Gompa, Manjushree Vidhyapith, Handicraft Shops and Tawang Monpa village. O/N in Hotel Samdrupling.
Day 07:Tawang/Bomdila
Drive to Bomdila 185 km/7 hrs. Enroute visit Jung Water Fall and Indo China War Memorial at Jaswantgarh. Afternoon Bomdila sight seeing including Monastaries, Emporium, Museum and local market. O/N in Elysium Lodge.
Day 08: Bomdila/Itanagar
Drive to Itanagar 320 km/9 hrs. Enroute visit Shertukpen Tribal village at Rupa. Entry formalities and passport checking at Holongi, the border check point between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Evening visit the local market. O/N in Hotel Blue Pine.
Day 09: Itanagar/Ziro
After breakfast visit Itafort, Jawaharlal Nehru Museum and Govt Crafts Emporium. Early lunch and drive to Ziro 150 km/4 hrs. The mountain road cuts through densely forested hills and slowly keeps gaining altitude till we reach the Apatani plateau at 6000 feet. En-route visit Nishing tribal villages. Overnight in Hotel Blue Pine.
Day 10: Ziro/Daporizo
Morning Ziro valley sight seeing including Apatani tribal village Hong or Bulla, local market, etc. Every where we go, we are warmly welcomed.As E.T. Dalton noted in 1845 "The men do not rejoice in much drapery, theywear a girdle of cane work painted red which hangs behind in long bushy tail."Just as the tail is the distinctive part of the male dress, so is the nose plug peculiar to the Apatani women. It is the ambition of each woman to wear the largest possible nose plugs, which are made of wood. Both sexes extensively tattoo their faces.
Each of the sect has distinctive features. Their hats, clothes, ornaments, language and even physical features are totally different. Early lunch and drive Ziro to Daporizo 180 km/6 hrs. Daporijo is the junction of three important tribes: Hill Miris, Tagins and Adi-Gallongs.
Overnight in Dumporizo IB.
Day 11: Daporizo/Along
Drive to Along 160 km/5 hrs through lovely Gallong-Adi countryside. En-route visit Bam and Kabu village and traditional hanging bridge made of cane & bamboo. We drive through dense forest alternating with expanses of open rolling hills with snow-clad peaks of the Himalayas in the distance. Along is the HQ of West Siang District. There is a well maintained Handicraft Center and Museum at Along.
In the evening enjoy traditional tribal cultural programme and interact with the village folks.
Overnight at Anchal Samiti Bhavan.
Day 12: Along/PasighatDrive to Pasighat 112 km/5 hrs. En-route visit Adi Minyong tribal village at Pangin. We continue to drive on a military road down river to Pasighat. Pasighat is a fairly big town on the banks of the river Siang (Brahmaputra in Assam). Here the mighty river exits the mountains to empty onto the Assam plains. From being a few hundred feet wide it suddenly becomes thousands of feet wide (6 miles across). Afternoon visit Museum and Crafts Emporium and Adi tribal village. Overnight in Hotel Oman.
Day 13: Pasighat/Roing
After breakfast drive to Roing 200 km/7 hrs the district HQ of Lower Dibang Valley. Enroute visit Mebo and Dambuk tribal village. Overnight in Hotel Lake Resort.
Day 14: Roing/Jorhat
Morning visit Mishmi tribal villages and drive on to Jorhat in Assam 315 km/8 hrs. Enroute visit Kareng Ghar, Talatal Ghar, Joyasagar Tank and Temples and other important Monuments of the great Ahom Kingdom depending on time availability. Overnight in Hotel Paradise.
Day 15: Jorhat/Majuli/Jorhat
After breakfast drive to Nimatighat and take a ferry ride to Majuli, the worlds biggest river island. Majuli is inhabited by Mishings, Deories and Sonowal Kacharies and is home to several rare migratory birds besides traditional handicrafts and pottery. Visit the famous Auniti Satra and Bengenaati Satra. Return to Jorhat by evening. Overnight in Hotel Paradise.
Day 16: Jorhat/Kaziranga
Drive to Kaziranga 100 km/2.5 hrs. After lunch jeep safari inside Kaziranga National Park. Kaziranga National Park is a World Heritage site and the home of the one-horned Indian rhinoceros. It was declared a National Park in 1974.
The route to this National Park, which is full of wetlands and some forests apart from the tall elephant grass is scenic with the blue hills of Arunachal Pradesh in the distance. It is spread over 430 sq kms. Our jeep cum elephant safaris take you to the heart of the sanctuary and apart from the rhino the other animals include wild elephants, gaurs, hog deer, barasingha sambhar, tigers, leopards, wild boars etc. It also teems with bird life.
Overnight in Wild grass Resort.
Day 17: Kaziranga/ShillongEarly morning elephant ride inside Kaziranga National Park. After breakfast drive to Shillong 270 km/7 hrs. Enroute enjoy the beautiful sceneries of Umiam (Barapani) lake. Shillong is the capital city of Meghalaya perched on a plateau at an altitude of 1496 metres and is one of the finest hill resorts of India. Overnight in Tripura Castle Heritage Hotel.
Day 18: Shillong/Cherrapunjee/Shillong
After breakfast drive to Shillong Peak for a panaromic view of Shillong city.
Thereafter visit Elephant falls and continue the journey to Cherrapunjee 60
km. Cherrapunjee is considered to be worlds wettest place. Enjoy the Various waterfalls and visit the cave, which is quite interesting in itself. After lunch return back to Shillong for city sight seeing depending on time availability. Overnight in Tripura Castle Heritage Hotel.
Day 19: Shillong/Gauhati
After breakfast drive to Gauhati 100 km/3 hrs. Enroute visit the famous Kamakhya Temple followed by city sightseeing. Evening Brahmaputra River Cruise on board Alfreshco/River Queen.
Overnight in 4 Star Hotel Dynasty.
Day 20: Gauhati/NEW JALPAIGURI/KALIMPONG
Early morning transfer to Gauhati railway station
Meet on arrival and drive Siliguri town. Refresh in a good restaurant and have lunch. Proceed to Kalimpong by vehicle. Check into the Orchid Retreat.
Evening free to take a walk in Kalimpong town and also visit a few tourist places like the Shantikunj Nursery and Delo view point.
Day 21: KALIMPONG/PEMYANGTSE
After breakfast, drive towards Pemayangtse via Melli and Legship. 3 hours drive. Reach Norbu Gang Resort and check in at NORBUNGHANG RESORT Afternoon:visit the famous Pemayangtse Monastery. Evening take a walk to the Sikkimese countryside.
Day 22: PEMYANGTSE/GANGTOK
Drive via Ravangla and Ben. 4.5 hours drive. After seeing the mountain range in the morning and BF, Start the drive to Gangtok through large Cardamom fields. (Largest producer in the world- sikkim). Evening stroll around Gangtok town for shopping. Stay at HOTEL CHUMBI RESIDENCY
Day 23: IN GANGTOK
Full day sight seeing aroung Gangtok: The Cottage industries, The Rumtek monastery, The Lingdung monastery, The Orchid show and the orchid nursery.
Day 24: GANGTOK/DARJEELING
After breakfast, drive to Darjeeling (4 hours drive). Reach the Cedar inn at lunch time. On arrival check-in at HOTEL FORTUNE CENTRAL.
Afternoon: visit the Mall and enjoy the beautiful Darjeeling town. Visit the famous Oxford book shop, choose high quality teas for souvenir.
Day 25: IN DARJEELING
Full day Darjeeling sight seeing. Visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute; take a ride in the Darjeeing Toy train.
We also visit the Home and personal museum of the Famous Sharpa Tenzing. This is not open to all people. Also enjoy a ride in the famous toy train. Evening enjoy in one of the numerous pubs that Darjeeling is so famous for.
Day 26: DARJEELING/NEW JALPAIGURI/DELHI
After breakfast transfer to New Jalpaiguri railway station
